Aliya Fakhri, the sister of Bollywood actress Nargis Fakhri, has been charged with murder following a fatal fire at her ex-boyfriend's home in New York City. The incident occurred on November 23, when Aliya allegedly set fire to a detached garage in the Queens borough, resulting in the deaths of her ex-boyfriend, Edward Jacobs, 35, and his friend, Anastasia Ettienne, 33. The authorities claim that the fire was a deliberate act of arson carried out after Jacobs rejected her attempts to mend their broken relationship.

Aliya Fakhri, 43, is facing serious charges including four counts of first-degree murder, four counts of second-degree murder, and arson. Her actions led to the tragic deaths of both victims, who succumbed to smoke inhalation and thermal injuries. Jacobs was reportedly asleep at the time of the fire, and Ettienne attempted to rescue him. Both were unable to escape the flames. Aliya's next court appearance is scheduled for December 9, as per the Queens District Attorney's office.

According to the indictment, Fakhri arrived at the scene early in the morning around 6:20 a.m., where she was heard shouting, 'You’re all going to die today,' before igniting the fire. The shocking events have left the community and the victims' families in mourning, while the legal proceedings continue to unfold.
