In yet another instance of shocking overcharging by ride-hailing giant Uber, a Hyderabad-based vlogger has come forward claiming that he was charged a staggering Rs 1 crore for a 10-minute auto ride in Bengaluru. This incident follows a similar case in Noida where a customer was billed Rs 7 crore for an auto ride, sparking concerns over the reliability of the app's fare calculation system.
Sriraj Nilesh, the aggrieved customer, narrated his ordeal in an Instagram video, expressing disbelief at the exorbitant fare. He and his wife had booked an autorickshaw through the Uber app for a relatively short distance from Tin Factory, KR Puram, to Koramangala. Initially quoted a fare of Rs 207, they were astounded to find a bill amounting to Rs 1,03,11,055 upon reaching their destination and attempting to pay via QR code.
