In Jhansi, an integrated parking system is in the consideration to address the city’s parking challenges. This system will enable drivers to effortlessly locate available parking spots nearby. Additionally, dedicated parking areas in commercial establishments will be reserved solely for parking. A collaborative team from various departments will be established, led by the District Magistrate, to implement this initiative.
The city’s roads are congested with over two lakh vehicles each day, a figure that continues to rise. The scarcity of parking leads to vehicles being parked haphazardly, causing traffic disruptions and increasing the risk of accidents.
The new parking system aims to rectify this by ensuring that parking spaces in commercial zones, hotels, and private hospitals are utilised according to regulations. These spaces will be reserved exclusively for parking, with their usage monitored to prevent misuse. The capacity of each parking lot will be evaluated, and all lots will be integrated into a software network. This software will inform drivers of available parking lots and the remaining capacity, facilitating convenient parking.
The system’s development will be overseen by a committee chaired by District Magistrate Avinash Kumar, comprising representatives from the Municipal Corporation, Jhansi Development Authority, Transport Department, and Traffic Department. This coordinated effort is part of the Smart City Scheme, with construction set to commence shortly.
