Jhansi Government Departments Achieve Record Revenue Collection in FY 2023-24

Government departments in Jhansi showed remarkable performance, significantly boosting the treasury in the last month of the financial year. They surpassed revenue collection targets, with the Municipal Corporation achieving a record recovery for the first time. While GST collections soared, the Excise Department faced challenges. The RTO department excelled in recovery but faced obstacles due to electric vehicles.

 

GST collections in Jhansi reached over Rs 1300 Crores for the financial year 2023-24, a 19.45% increase compared to the previous year. Despite challenges, various departments like the Municipal Corporation and Jal Sansthan achieved significant recoveries, with the latter collecting Rs 1.5 crore in a single day. 

 

Jal Sansthan issued bills to a wider range of consumers, resulting in a substantial Rs 54 crore collection. The Municipal Corporation saw a notable increase in revenue from house taxes and fines, reaching a record recovery of Rs 47.5 crore.

 

Despite Sunday being a day off, departments opened cash counters, facilitating consumer transactions. The Transport Department saw increased revenue from the sale of electric vehicles, contributing positively to the treasury. Additionally, the Market Committee earned Rs 10 crore for crop purchases, while the Railway Board saw a significant rise in revenue from ticket checking operations.

 

Key Highlights of the revenue collections in Jhansi 

 

GST collections in Jhansi for the financial year 2023-24 surpassed Rs 13 billion, marking a 19.45% increase compared to the previous year.

The Municipal Corporation achieved a record recovery of Rs 47.5 crore, the highest till date.

 

Jal Sansthan collected Rs 1.5 crore in a single day, contributing significantly to a total recovery of Rs 54 crore.

The Transport Department saw increased revenue from the sale of electric vehicles.

 

The Market Committee earned Rs 10 crore for crop purchases.

The Railway Board collected approximately Rs 33.93 crore from ticket checking operations, exceeding the target by 30%.

 

House tax and other items yielded a revenue of Rs 47.5 crore for the Municipal Corporation.

 

The Municipal Corporation banned dogs and cats, collected Rs 1.36 lakh for license fees, and recovered Rs 7.93 lakh as kettle catching fines.

 

The Transport Department achieved almost 72% of its target, with revenue primarily from the sale of new vehicles.

 

Jhansi stood first in the state in recovery of dues.

 

The Market Committee collected approximately 95% of the market fee from crop purchases.

 

Record recovery in ticket checking by the Railway Board resulted in revenue of approximately Rs 33.93 crore.

 

Cases of ticketless travel and irregular ticketing resulted in recoveries totaling Rs 22.12 crore and Rs 11.70 crore, respectively.

 

Arrests for traveling without booked luggage yielded recoveries of Rs 10.52 lakh.
