n a tragic incident in Chhewtan village, Jhansi, an elderly man, Makhanlal (62), died after being attacked over a dispute regarding a piece of government land. The attack took place on December 12, when a group of people, including nine women, entered the house of the victim’s family and assaulted them with sticks and axes. Makhanlal, his wife Savitri, and their daughter Anjali suffered severe injuries during the attack.
Anjali, who reported the incident to the police, mentioned that the attack began when Sangita, the wife of a neighbor named Deepak, entered their home and started a confrontation. When Makhanlal and Savitri intervened to stop the fight, the attackers, including several others from the neighborhood, joined in and brutally assaulted the family members.
The police arrived at the scene soon after the attack and took the injured to a community center. Makhanlal, whose condition was critical, was referred to a medical college but succumbed to his injuries later that night. The police have since registered a case, naming nine women and several unknown individuals for charges of unintentional murder, assault, and rioting.
Authorities have launched a manhunt to arrest the suspects. The police are working on gathering more information and expect to make arrests soon. The case has shocked the local community, and efforts are underway to ensure justice for the victim and his family.
