Prashant Kishor has been on a hunger strike since Thursday, protesting against allegations of a BPSC question paper leak.

The Bihar Police arrested Jan Suraaj chief Prashant Kishor early Monday while he was on an indefinite hunger strike at Gandhi Maidan in Patna, according to PTI.

Police personnel removed Prashant Kishor and his supporters from the protest site. According to Kishor's supporters, he was taken to Patna AIIMS for a medical examination.

Patna District Magistrate Chandrashekhar Singh confirmed to PTI that Prashant Kishor and his supporters were arrested on Monday morning while staging a dharna at Gandhi Maidan. 'Yes, Kishor and his supporters sitting on dharna at Gandhi Maidan were arrested by the police. They will now be produced before a court,' he said.

The DM stated that their dharna was 'illegal,' as it was being held near a restricted site.

Since Thursday, Jan Suraaj founder Prashant Kishor had been on a hunger strike, demanding the cancellation of the integrated 70th combined (preliminary) competitive test conducted by the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) on December 13.

The protests, fueled by allegations of irregularities in the BPSC examination, gained momentum after the government announced a re-examination. Prashant Kishor claimed this decision was an implicit acknowledgment of the mistakes that had occurred.

By conducting the re-examination, the government has legally acknowledged that irregularities occurred with certain students during the examination," Prashant Kishor told ANI on Sunday.

He emphasized the urgency of addressing the issue for the students' welfare, stating, "The chief minister (Nitish Kumar) should meet the students to discuss their demands; this is in the best interest of the state.

Prashant Kishor also sought the support of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav in demanding the cancellation of the BPSC exam.

'These leaders are much bigger than us. They can mobilize five lakh people at Gandhi Maidan…this is the time to act. The future of the youth is at stake. We are facing a brutal regime that has ordered lathi charges 87 times in just three years,' Kishor was quoted as saying by PTI.

Earlier, the district administration lodged an FIR against Kishor and '150 supporters,' stating that the protest at the site was 'illegal.
