Jan 15, 2025

Prime Minister Modi is set to visit Mumbai on Wednesday to inaugurate an ISKCON temple. Traffic diversions and road closures have been implemented to ensure safety and manage congestion effectively.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Mumbai on Wednesday to participate in multiple events, including the inauguration of an ISKCON temple in Navi Mumbai’s Khargar. To facilitate smooth traffic flow and prevent congestion, the police have implemented significant traffic diversions ahead of his visit.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Kharghar’s Sector 23 for the inauguration of the ISKCON temple will see several dignitaries accompanying him. To ensure safety and prevent congestion, the police have issued a detailed advisory, which includes vehicle restrictions, route diversions, and designated 'no parking' zones in the area.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Tirupati Kakade, stated that several roads in Kharghar will be closed to vehicular traffic on January 15, and citizens are advised to use alternative routes.

Restricted areas include both lanes of the road from Ove Gaon Police Chowki to J Kumar Circle, the road from Gurudwara Chowk to J Kumar Circle via BD Somani School, and the stretch between Gate 1 and Gate 2 of the ISKCON temple. Access will be limited to VIP vehicles, police, emergency services, and event dignitaries.

Emergency service vehicles, including fire brigade vehicles, police vehicles, and ambulances, will be exempted from the restrictions, according to Tirupati Kakade, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic).

To minimise inconvenience for regular commuters, the police have provided alternative routes:

  • Commuters traveling from Ove Gaon Police Chowki to J Kumar Circle can take an alternate route via nearby service roads or designated lanes.
  • For those heading from Gurudwara Chowk to J Kumar Circle via BD Somani School, alternative roads have been marked to bypass the restricted zones.
  • Travelers near the ISKCON temple area are advised to use adjacent routes to avoid the no-entry zones between Gate 1 and Gate 2.

Further details on specific alternative routes can be obtained through local traffic updates or the Navi Mumbai Police's official communication channels.

The Navi Mumbai Police have outlined alternative routes to help commuters navigate the restrictions during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit. The details are as follows:

  • From Prashant Corner to Ove Gaon Police Chowki: Commuters can turn right near Prashant Corner to reach their destination.

  • From Ove Gaon Chowk to J Kumar Circle: Travelers can take a right turn near Prashant Corner for an alternate route.

  • From Gramvikas Bhavan via Green Heritage Chowk: Vehicles can turn left to reach J Kumar Circle or Ove Gaon Police Chowki via BD Somani School.
