Severe Cold Wave in UP: Schools Up to Class 8 Closed in Several Districts, Holidays Extended

The severe cold and fog continue to affect Bareilly and the entire region. As a result, holidays have been extended for schools up to Class 8.

After rain and two days of sunlight, the weather has worsened again. From Tuesday night, dense fog began to engulf Bareilly and the surrounding areas. By Wednesday morning, visibility in many places dropped to zero. The cold winds have further increased the chill. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for fog for two days. Due to extreme cold and fog, holidays for schools up to Class 8 have been extended in three districts of the region.

Schools Closed in Bareilly on Wednesday
In view of the severe cold, holidays have been declared in all schools and madrasas in the Bareilly district on Wednesday. DM Ravindra Kumar has declared holidays for all government, private, and council schools from Class 1 to 8. All schools affiliated with various boards have been instructed to strictly adhere to this order.

Holidays Extended in Badaun Till January 16
In Badaun, considering the biting cold, DM Nidhi Srivastava ordered BSA Virendra Pal Singh to declare a two-day holiday for all schools up to Class 8. According to the order, all government and private schools will remain closed on January 15 and 16.

Notably, winter vacations were already scheduled until January 14. Schools were supposed to reopen on January 15, but the holidays have been extended by two more days due to the severe cold on Tuesday. Dense fog was observed across the district from Wednesday morning.
