Delhi's weather is set to turn colder as the Indian Meteorological Department forecasts a drop in minimum temperatures starting Wednesday, lasting for the next week.
Northern India is grappling with severe weather conditions, and Delhi is expected to witness a notable temperature drop this week. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts a minimum temperature of 5°C by Friday.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has released a seven-day forecast for Delhi, predicting a drop in minimum temperatures starting Wednesday.
On Wednesday, Delhi's primary weather station, the Safdarjung Observatory, recorded a maximum temperature of 16.2°C, which is 2.8°C above normal. The minimum temperature stood at 10.5°C, 3.6°C higher than usual for this time of year, with relative humidity ranging between 87% and 92%.
In a positive development, Delhi's air quality has improved. The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) reported that the Air Quality Index (AQI) was at 335 on Monday, categorized as "very poor." However, the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) revoked Stage 3 restrictions under the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) due to a decline in pollution levels, aided by favorable meteorological conditions like increased wind speeds.
