Those living in Noida Extension have a reason to cheer. Efforts are on to extend the Metro till Noida Extension. So far, the City Centre happens to be the last metro station on the Noida line. The authorities now plan to extend it further.
The line, which is expected to be in place in the next two three years, is likely to benefit those living in Noida Extension as it would provide a seamless travel to Delhi.
The City Centre metro station, which is proposed to link Sector-62, would branch out at Sector-71 to take the line till Noida Extension.
The nearly seven-kilometre long line is expected to cost around Rs 1,400 crore of which Rs 1,100 would be shared by Noida and Greater Noida authorities, depending on the territory falling under their jurisdiction. At least two stations are proposed to be built on this line.
And that's not all. There's more good news in store for people living in the area with the Noida board on Monday deciding to improve the Metro connectivity. The Noida Authority has approved the detailed project report (DPR) to link Botanical Garden metro station with Kalindi Kunj.
"We have sent both these proposals to the state (Uttar Pradesh) government for approval. The sanction on Botanical Garden-Kalindi Kunj line is expected to come early and we intend to start work soon," Noida Authority CEO Sanjiv Saran said.
Once the proposal on the Botanical Garden-Kalindi Kunj line gets the nod from the government, the Noida Authority would sign an MoU with the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation and work could start within three months.
Out of Rs 845 crore that the project would cost, the Noida Authority is expected to shell out Rs 500 crore.
The Noida board also proposed an outlay of Rs 7,021 crore for the year 2012-13, a 40 per cent hike from last year's Rs 5,076 crore. The authority intends to spend Rs 2,500 crore on land acquisition, Rs 3,000 crore on development and Rs 500 crore on Metro extension.
The authority also plans to launch a scheme to set up nursing homes by August 3 in which 11 plots of more than 1,000 square metres would be offered for allotment.
"Only those applicants whose nursing homes had been sealed are allowed to apply. The price of the allotment would be kept in proportion to the reserve price of the residential sector in which the plot is situated," Saran said.
A scheme for banks is also likely to be introduced by the authority, the CEO said.
The Greater Noida board also decided to incorporate the five comments expressed by the statutory committee of NCR Planning Board (NCRPB) in its Master Plan 2021 and has sent it to the state government for approval.
