There has been no year in recent memory of Jhansi residents when they have not faced problems due to waterlogging during the rainy season. But there is hope for relief. The Regional Central for Urban Environment Studies (RCUES) has prepared a plan to improve the drainage system in the urban area.
The plan is divided into three phases and will cost 973 crores. The municipal corporation will use the Smart City Fund to finance the project.
The first phase will cost 131 crores and will connect the 201720 km long drains of the city.
The second phase will cover 24 drains of the urban area, which are about 48 kilometres long, and will cost 353 crores.
The third phase will cover 17 drains that are 42 km long and will cost 157 crores. The cost of repairing all the drains in the city, which is 176 crores, will be incurred. This will eliminate water leakage and other problems anywhere.
The municipal corporation conducted a survey of the entire city through the agency RCUES in the last one month regarding this. The agency prepared the plan in three phases while surveying the water logging areas.
The municipal corporation officials have prepared to send the Detailed Project Report (DPR) to the government. The DPR of 973 crores was prepared based on the survey report of a month and handed over to the municipal corporation. As soon as the budget is released in the Smart City project, work will start.
