Shashwat Singh/Jhansi. The iconic road being built by Jhansi Municipal Corporation and Smart City is now becoming a disaster for them. Today, BJP councilors sat on a dharna in the Municipal Corporation in protest against the money being spent on the Iconic Road. About 25 councilors staged a sit-in at the main gate of the Municipal Corporation and took the Municipal Corporation employees hostage. During this period the councilors did not allow any work to be done. The work of the bank running within the Municipal Corporation was also affected.

 

The councilors' allegation was that the money was given to the Municipal Corporation from the Finance Commission. Development work should be done in all the wards with this money. But instead, all this money is being spent on building iconic roads. A woman councilor said that the roads in her ward were broken. The drains are full of filth, there are many problems like water shortage. The officers and mayor do not listen. Another councilor said that instead of developing wards, iconic roads are being built with Municipal Corporation money. It should be explained to us what is the need of this road.

Councilor Bunty Soni said that in the last 6 months the Municipal Corporation officials are not doing any work for the development of the ward. The officials of the construction department and health department do not even listen to the councillors. After this protest which lasted for about 3 hours, Mayor Bihari Lal Arya reached the spot and talked to the councilors and asked them to end the protest. He said that soon a tender will be issued simultaneously for the development work of all the wards.
