Jhansi administration accelerates efforts to meet CM Community Wedding targets

Feb 05, 2024

Jhansi City | Marriage is easily one of the most significant part of a person's life. But marriage is an expensive affair. There is a substantial population in the state which cannot bear expenses of even a modest celebration. Over the years the government has tried to curb the incidents of dowry as it often ends up the bride’s family in debt. Socialists claim this to be the predominant challenge in achieving zero girl child foeticide.

UP government is running a scheme to ensure no socially backward girl is left behind to get married for the lack of resources. Jhansi administration has been pointed out and instructed to meet the required targets under the scheme by the Chief Ministers Office.

Jhansi administration is preparing to cover the large margin for meeting the targets. According to the plan Jhansi government will be looking to perform at least 500 weddings in the month of february itself. Administration has only been able to perform 18 weddings in comparison to a target of 520 by february. While 778 still left to achieve before the end of the season this year (2023).

On the instructions of the CDO, the administration machinery in the blocks started looking for couples.Beneficiaries can contact the social welfare department or blocks.
