The Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) has obtained environmental clearance from the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change for the development of the Jhansi Defence Corridor Node. This strategic move paves the way for a new era of defence manufacturing in the region.

February 13, 2024 brings in good news for UPEIDA, as it  secures the green signal to establish the Jhansi node of the defence corridor. The project, spanning 1076.7040 hectares in Garotha tehsil, is poised to make Jhansi  the centre for production of defence-related machinery, tools, equipment, and technology.

Environmental Considerations 

The environmental clearance comes with certain conditions to ensure harmony between the project and nature. UPEIDA will create a 15-meter wide green belt around the project site. It will reserve 33% of the area within the layout as a green belt. This commitment to environmental sustainability highlights the importance of balancing industrial growth with ecological responsibility.
