"November was the hottest in 124 years in UP: December is also expected to be less cold; cold waves will last only 3 days instead of 6 this month."

Dec 03, 2024

November 2024 has gone down in history as the hottest November in Uttar Pradesh in the last 124 years. The northeastern region of India, known for its typically cool November weather, has never experienced such temperatures since 1901. This year, the average temperature for the month was recorded at an unprecedented 20.14°C, breaking the record set more than a century ago. This drastic rise in temperature highlights the growing impact of climate change on seasonal weather patterns.

Meteorologists attribute this unusual heat to a combination of global warming and localized weather phenomena. The delayed arrival of winter winds, combined with higher atmospheric temperatures, has led to warmer nights and shorter cold spells. Experts also predict that December will follow a similar trend, with milder temperatures and fewer cold wave days. Instead of the usual six days of cold waves, only three are expected this month, signaling a significant shift in the winter season.

This anomaly has raised concerns among farmers and environmentalists alike. For farmers, the warmer weather could disrupt crop cycles and irrigation needs, while environmentalists see it as another alarming indicator of climate instability. With weather patterns becoming increasingly unpredictable, calls for sustainable practices and policies to mitigate climate change are growing louder. This November serves as a stark reminder of the challenges posed by a warming planet.
