Modern transportation is the backbone of successful urban setting. As Bundelkhand region is preparing grand plan of Bundelkhand Industrial Development Authority (BIDA), the recent announcement in the Union Budget to bolster the operations of metro systems and Namo Bharat trains has sparked a wave of optimism, particularly in regions like Jhansi. With the Jhansi Development Authority (JDA) having already prepared the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for a Light Metro, there's a renewed hope for the swift implementation of this modern transportation solution.
Amidst the budget's emphasis on enhancing urban transportation facilities nationwide, it is anticipated that securing funds from the central government for metro rail projects, including those in Jhansi, will become more streamlined. Jhansi finds itself among the key cities in the state where groundwork for metro connectivity is well underway.
Under the guidance of the JDA, in collaboration with RITES Company, the DPR for the Light Metro encompasses comprehensive details ranging from route alignment to station infrastructure and financial estimates. The proposed metro network envisions a 20-kilometer route traversing the city, with plans for two distinct routes: one spanning 12 kilometers and the other, eight kilometers.
Initially estimated to require a budget of Rs 2600 crore for implementation, the surge in urbanization and burgeoning middle-class population has prompted the Union Budget to prioritize the expansion of metro projects across the country, further fueling the prospects for Jhansi's metro aspirations.
Alok Yadav, Vice President of JDA, affirms the completion of the DPR for the Light Metro project in Jhansi, underscoring the city's proactive stance towards embracing modern urban transportation solutions.
