In a heartening display of community effort, Jhansi is spearheading a campaign to aid children in Bundelkhand grappling with cleft lips and palate conditions. Under the guidance of Member of Parliament Anurag Sharma, a coalition consisting of Maharani Laxmibai Medical College, Operation Smile, Inga Health Foundation, and Veerangana Foundation has initiated a project to identify and offer complimentary surgeries to these children.

 

The inaugural phase of the project aims to perform surgeries for 120 children, with the generous assistance of doctors from 12 different countries who have volunteered their expertise for this noble cause. Scheduled from February 5th to 13th, this initiative seeks to address the needs of children across Bundelkhand, spanning regions in Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.

 

Over 160 children have already been identified for surgical intervention, showcasing the widespread impact of this collaborative endeavor. Medical and non-medical volunteers from countries such as Australia, Russia, the United States, Britain, the Philippines, Sweden, Brazil, Ghana, Malawi, Japan, Canada, and India are joining hands to ensure the success of this initiative. Their dedicated efforts will play a crucial role in providing care and support to these children throughout their treatment journey.

 

"We are proud to announce the participation of 32 specialist doctors from 12 countries," expressed MP Anurag Sharma, highlighting the global reach and collective commitment behind this initiative. "Our goal is to ensure that every child in need receives the necessary care and attention they deserve."

 

In addition to medical assistance, the coalition is also extending support to families by covering their expenses during their stay in Jhansi. This holistic approach underscores the community's dedication to making a tangible difference in the lives of these children and their families.
