The Bareilly Development Authority (BDA) initiated a significant crackdown against illegal colonies in the city, marking the start of the New Year with bold action. On Wednesday, bulldozers demolished seven unauthorized developments in the Cantonment area. This operation, carried out under the Uttar Pradesh Urban Planning and Development Act of 1973, dismantled ongoing construction, including roads, drainage systems, and site offices built without proper approvals.
BDA Vice President Manikandan A revealed that developers were attempting to establish colonies on over 50,000 square meters of land without the required permissions. Behind the CNG pump in the Cantonment area, unauthorized CC roads were being built on 10,000 square meters by individuals like Rajesh Maurya and others. Similar actions were taken against illegal developments by Rishikant Jaiswal, Pradeep Tomar, Satish Lala, and several others across various sites, totaling thousands of square meters.
Earlier on December 31, bulldozers targeted five illegal colonies on Badaun Road, including unauthorized developments by Suleman and Gajendra Patel. The BDA team also sealed construction sites to prevent further unauthorized activity.
This sustained action by the BDA reflects a strong stance against illegal urban development and sends a clear message to colonizers attempting to bypass regulatory approvals.
