Residents of Uttar Pradesh can expect some relief from the ongoing cold wave in the coming days as temperatures begin to rise slightly. Over the past 24 hours, minimum temperatures in several areas, including Lucknow, have increased by 1-2°C, indicating a temporary respite from the chilling cold. Despite this, dense fog is predicted to persist across the state, potentially impacting visibility in many regions.
In Lucknow, Sunday night recorded a significant temperature rise, with the minimum climbing to 7.4°C from 5.5°C on Saturday. Similarly, Ayodhya experienced a 1°C increase, with temperatures reaching 3.5°C. However, cities like Ballia, Churk, Ayodhya, Amethi, and Jhansi continued to feel the effects of the cold wave on Sunday night.
Monday saw heavy fog across multiple areas, including Kanpur, Amethi, Bareilly, and Bahraich, where visibility dropped to around 300 meters. The dense fog is expected to persist, making travel conditions challenging in many parts of the state.
According to meteorologists, a new western disturbance near Afghanistan and a cyclonic system over central Pakistan are driving warmer, moisture-laden easterly winds from the Bay of Bengal. These winds will bring slight temperature increases and moderate to dense fog across Uttar Pradesh, offering temporary relief from the cold wave over the next 2-3 days.
