Dec 17, 2024

Attention vehicle owners! Not having a valid pollution certificate could result in a hefty ?10,000 fine. The Regional Transport Office (RTO) is conducting strict inspections, and all vehicle documents are being thoroughly checked. Many drivers, in an attempt to save ?60–?110, are neglecting their pollution checks, which is proving to be an expensive mistake.

More than 40% of vehicle owners, including two-wheeler and four-wheeler drivers, are found without valid pollution certificates during inspections. The cost for pollution testing is minimal—?60 for two-wheelers, ?80 for petrol cars, and ?110 for diesel cars. However, avoiding this small expense is leading to significant penalties during challans.

The issue is more prominent with older vehicles, as owners often neglect pollution checks over time. This carelessness not only causes financial penalties but also contributes to rising pollution levels. The enforcement team ensures that every vehicle challan involves checking for all essential documents, including pollution certificates.

According to ARTO Enforcement Officer Alok Kumar, over 1,000 cases of missing pollution certificates are reported every month. Vehicle owners, especially those with vehicles older than five years, are urged to complete their pollution checks immediately to avoid unnecessary fines. Don’t let small savings today turn into a massive penalty tomorrow!
