Dec 09, 2024

A wedding ceremony in Mathura's Mant area turned into a health crisis when over 400 guests and family members fell ill after consuming Rasmalai served during the feast. The incident occurred on December 6 at Arsh Green Garden, where two daughters of Keval Singh, a resident of Jabra village, were married. While many affected individuals are recovering at home, ten people are reported to be in critical condition and are receiving treatment in private hospitals.

The wedding saw Hemlata married to Sumit Kumar from Baghai, and Premlata married to Nepal Singh from Hasanpur. During the event, guests from Jabra, Hasanpur, and Baghai villages enjoyed the meal. However, those who consumed Rasmalai reported symptoms of food poisoning, leading to a sudden health crisis that affected both men and women.

Keval Singh, the bride's father, stated that the illness stemmed from the dessert served at the wedding. Amit Chaudhary, brother-in-law of groom Nepal Singh, also fell ill and alleged that the caterer might have added something harmful to the food. More than 50 people are currently undergoing treatment in Mathura's private hospitals, while others are confined to their homes due to their worsening conditions.

The incident has left families in distress, with beds and sick individuals filling homes in affected villages. Authorities are expected to investigate the matter to determine if the dessert was contaminated or if there was negligence on the caterer’s part. The community awaits answers and hopes for the speedy recovery of those impacted.
