The infrastructural blueprint encompasses two primary transit corridors within Bareilly’s metropolitan zone. The DPR corresponding to these proposed corridors is anticipated within the stipulated timeframe of March 15. In the absence of unforeseen impediments, project implementation is set to initiate in 2027, with an estimated completion timeline extending to 2030. Consequently, by the operational benchmark of 2031, the city’s populace will gain access to an advanced metro transit system. Technical forecasts extrapolated from an extensive survey executed by the Rail India Technical and Economic Service (RITES) indicate that a dual-coach metro configuration operating along both designated transit corridors will possess a maximum hourly passenger capacity of approximately 19,000 individuals.
The delineated metro transit network comprises two strategic conduits: one spanning the axis from Bareilly Junction to North City Extension and the second facilitating connectivity from Chauki Chauraha to Fun City. This urban transit initiative has been conceptualized with a long-term vision, incorporating demographic projections and passenger mobility requisites extending to the fiscal year 2056. Analytical projections suggest that by 2056, the metro network will efficiently accommodate an estimated passenger influx of 32,400 individuals per hour. The collaborative synergy between the Bareilly Development Authority (BDA) and RITES continues to propel the project forward through successive deliberative sessions and technical evaluations.
The DPR was initially slated for submission in January; however, procedural delays ensued owing to residual survey components and supplementary assessment requirements. As of the current phase, RITES engineers are systematically consolidating empirical survey data to formulate a comprehensive conclusive report. Following DPR finalization, an executive-level conference will be convened under the stewardship of the Divisional Commissioner, wherein key stakeholders will deliberate on procedural directives and strategic execution methodologies.
This metro initiative stands as a transformative venture poised to redefine urban commuting dynamics within Bareilly. Beyond mere infrastructural augmentation, the metro system is envisioned to mitigate vehicular congestion, curtail transit delays, and establish a seamless, time-efficient public transportation matrix. In response to escalating urbanization trends and burgeoning demographic indices, this metro development scheme is integral to the sustainable urban expansion blueprint, ensuring infrastructural resilience and enhanced civic mobility for future generations.
