Jhansi: On Thursday, teams from the Regional Transport Department (RTO) conducted an inspection of school vehicles in the region. During the inspection, two school buses were found to be non-compliant with safety regulations. Neither of the buses had first aid boxes nor fire extinguishers, which are essential safety equipment for any vehicle carrying students. These lapses in safety standards led to the buses being fined.
In addition to the two buses, 11 auto-rickshaws were also inspected. The inspection revealed that these autos were carrying more schoolchildren than their designated capacity. This violation of safety norms prompted fines for the 11 autos, as carrying excessive passengers can lead to serious risks in case of emergencies.
Moreover, seven vehicles were found to be in complete violation of safety standards. These vehicles not only had more children than allowed, but they also failed to meet the required specifications for school transportation. As a result, these seven vehicles were seized by the authorities, ensuring they were temporarily removed from operation until they meet the required standards.
The inspection was conducted under the directives of the Divisional Commissioner. Hemchandra Gautam, the ADTO of Enforcement, mentioned that the campaign would continue to ensure the safety of school transportation. The authorities are committed to regularly checking school vehicles to ensure that they comply with all safety norms and provide secure transportation for students.
