"In 2024, Jhansi's Regional Transport Office (RTO) enforcement teams conducted a rigorous crackdown on traffic violations, issuing a total of 23,544 challans and seizing 1,461 vehicles. The enforcement campaign, which ran from January 1 to December 31, primarily targeted violations like two-wheeler riders not wearing helmets, with the highest number of fines (10,724) issued for this safety lapse. Additionally, 3,186 fines were imposed on motorists for not wearing seat belts, while 2,300 drivers were fined for traveling in the wrong direction on roads.

The RTO also focused on over-speeding, with 750 fines issued for exceeding speed limits, and overloading violations, which accounted for 1,700 fines. Drivers with outstanding tax payments were penalized with 1,734 fines, while 650 fines were issued for illegal parking. A significant number of vehicles, 2,500 in total, were penalized for not having high-security number plates.

Beyond the fines, the enforcement teams also took strict action against commercial vehicles. A total of 1,461 four-wheeled commercial vehicles were seized for violating various traffic regulations, sending a strong message about adherence to road safety rules. Dr. Sujeet Kumar, the ARTO enforcement officer, highlighted the department's commitment to maintaining road safety and ensuring that traffic regulations are followed consistently throughout the year."
