UP School Holidays Extended: Severe Cold Wave Leads to Additional Holidays
Amid the ongoing severe cold wave, District Magistrate Arvind Mallappa Bangari has taken steps to ensure the safety and well-being of students by extending school holidays up to Class 12 for an additional day. Initially, schools were scheduled to remain closed on January 14 in observance of Makar Sankranti. However, in light of the harsh weather conditions, all CBSE, ICSE, secondary, government, and private schools will now reopen on January 15.
The District Magistrate emphasized that this decision was made to safeguard children from the extreme cold, which poses health risks. Schools have been permitted to conduct online classes at their discretion during the extended holidays. Teachers are expected to perform their duties as per instructions from school management.
For schools conducting practical exams or pre-board exams for Classes 9 to 12, permission has been granted to continue operating for these activities. However, academic activities for other students will remain suspended until January 15. Parents and guardians are advised to stay updated through school management, as they have been instructed to communicate these changes effectively.
To address potential violations of the order, strict monitoring will be in place. Schools found open during the announced holidays without proper authorization will face stringent action from authorities.
Considering the upcoming festival of Makar Sankranti on January 14, schools were already scheduled to remain closed for the day. As a result, the holidays have been extended to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for students when schools reopen on January 15.
Parents are urged to prioritize their children's safety by following the advisory issued by the authorities. In the meantime, schools can use this opportunity to continue educational activities through online platforms, allowing students to stay on track with their curriculum without compromising their health.
